Judges' Comments

Mark Robertson

Faintly DMS (Dimethylsulphoxide offers a Herbal character. Ed) reduced with a hint of unripeness and just a trace of tomato stalk if you look really hard. Behind that though beautiful fruit. It was a real chunky, powerful iron fist in a silk glove palate. It was sensational in that sense. Grainy coating tannins and powerful ripe fruit. It was a very good wine.

Kym Milne

Good fruit. Bright, vibrant, floral, herb and fruit characters. Quite elegant with some savoury notes and a long, lingering finish. Sweet oak was quite noticeable on the finish but good flavours. Quite a firm wine but it was good with the food.

Warren Gibson

A very dense colour. A pure, vibrant nose. Very deep colour suggests power and it’s very ripe and dense again on the palate. A suggestion of high alcohol. A riper style. A very attractive wine. A nice match with the food, although it could do with slightly more acidity. The tannins showed through on the finish.

Adrian Atkinson

Lifted, bramble and cherry nose with lovely fruit concentration and density but lovely balance and elegance. Some of the fruit is a touch overripe and comes through a bit sweet on the palate with the food, but the wine is sweet, juicy and classy.

Debra Meiburg

Perfumed, soft red fruit. Round, mouth filling flavour. A moderate finish. NO particular influence or compatibility with the meal.

Andrew Wigan

Lovely, deep crimson showing solid, slightly closed cherry notes and a touch of stalk. Just a little bit of a reduced flavour coming through at the end.

Tony Allen

Very attractive and lifted nose of aromatic and perfumed ripe red berry fruits. It has a touch of sweetness and alcohol on the palate. Quite attractive versus many on this flight.
