Judges' Comments

Kym Milne
Deep colour. Very ripe, marmalade, honey aromas, some caramel. Very unctuous and long

Warren Gibson
Golden colour. Very aged. Overly sweet. Very concentrated match with the dish. Some synergy there

Meg Brodtmann
A little bit sweet and sour on the nose with aromas of toffee, lemon juice and marmalade. Slightly bitter on the palate but balanced sugar and acid with enough apricot, quince and marmalade fruit to support the wine. Well matched but not improved by the tarte.

Dr Ken Dobler
Light amber colour. Attractive nose with marzipan and candied citrus notes. Really well made with a lovely line of flavour through the palate, excellent complexity of flavours and a slight savoury quality despite its sweetness.

Brent Marris
Toasty aged notes on the nose. Good acidity and balance of sugar. Hints of dried fig and apricot evident. Richness on the palate. Wine works in with the apple tart as flavours pop on the finish.

Ying Tan
Light amber. Nutty biscuit botrytised grapey, honeyed nose. Light, sweet, high acid, biscuit, orange peel, nutty mid-palate. Sweet honeyed finish. Long. Apple Tart Tatin emphasizes freshness but also a touch of dryness on the tail
