Judges' Comments

Warren Gibson
Very complex and attractive nose. Forest floor and dark fruits with floral notes. A very attractive, rich win. Concentrated and complex. Superb match with everything really singing together.

Meg Brodtmann
Confected red fruits on the nose reminiscent of boiled lollies (raspberries and strawberries). There are also hints of coffee and clove. Big, juicy and round on the palate with plenty of support from the slightly drying tannins. With the duck, the wine is still quite simple and confected but the pairing works well.

Dr Ken Dobler
Light brick red. Attractive red cherry and leafy/sappy aromas on the nose. Palate is generous and flavoursome with ripe berry nuances and good flavour persistence. With food developed an almost confection like intensity.

Brent Marris
Lovely primary berry fruit notes on the nose and follows through to the palate. Hints of fresh herbs and sweet fruit characters make this wine lovely and long on the palate. Good tannin balance and acidity make this wine lovely and youthful. A great balance of flavours when matched with the duck dish. Fruit sweetness and soft tannins come together without losing the lovely herb elements.

Ying Tan
Light ruby. Creamy, crunchy fresh blue fruit on the nose. Med-full, dry, spicy, finely textured soft tannins, balanced, creamy oak, spicy dark fruit. Dry finish. Duck Risotto nicely accents the bright red fruit characters.

Sue Bastian
Mid-ruby/cherry red. Mid-high intensity spearmint, savoury spice and rhubarb. Soft and silky mouthfeel, reasonable fruit weight and complexity drops a little short. Match makes the wine look a little mean.
