Judges' Comments

Warren Gibson
Unusual nose. Some greenness and reduction. Skinnsy and slightly hard. Lacking some charm. A bit lean an lacking beauty

Meg Brodtmann
Hints of forest floor, mushroom and game on the nose, suggesting a wine with some development. Similarly, the palate is savoury and earthy with stalky tannins and quite a hot, drying finish. The earthy beetroot is beautiful with the wine. It still finishes dry but is much improved.

Dr Ken Dobler
Medium brick red colour. Dried herb and dark cherry aromas on the nose. Attractive restrained palate with savoury fruit notes and nice persistence.

Brent Marris
Ripe rich berry fruit driven nose showing excellent lift and youthfulness. Hints of velvety texture give this wine great elegance and power. Integrated oak, great tannin balance and real fruit drive make this a great wine. A well-matched wine as the fruit and tannins come together to give this wine greater structure. Finishes with great elegance and power.

Ying Tan
Light dark red. Smoky, lightly oaked dark cherry nose. Med-bodied, dry, lightly tannic, spicy dark cherries. Dry spicy finish. Simple. A little lean. Duck Risotto tones down tannins, brings out sweetness of fruit.

Sue Bastian
Medium ruby red with ever so slight orange tints. Lovely, jubey red fruit nose, with hints of spice, pepper and toast. Good fruit intensity on palate, with fruit sweetness and soft tannin. A good food wine.
