Judges' Comments
Mark Robertson
A bright colour
on this wine. Chocolate, plums and cedar on the nose. It was a
moderately intense nose. It had a balanced, good palate with a
noticeable alcohol finish. That alcohol was pronounced. It gave the
wine a sweet, almost minty finish. Still a pretty compelling wine.
Debra Meiburg
Juicy red fruit
with green herbal accents. Mouth watering acidity. Sandy tannins.
Long, persistent finish but the sandy tannins are best when tangoing
with the fattier parts of the bird.

Lifted, floral,
perfumed Pinot. Good texture. Slightly warm alcohol feel. Medium
bodied. Nice silky texture. A touch of complexity. A touch of
barnyard. Good length. An elegant wine. The flavours and body coped
very well with the food.

Quite clumsy and
disjointed versus some. It tasted very simple alongside the duck.

Medium red with
a slightly stewed nose. A touch short on the finish.
Warren Gibson
Charry, almost
reduced nose. Closed up and ungiving at first. Some stalky notes come
through on the palate. Medium weight and lacking some power. The
cherry, berry nose comes through on the palate in combination with
the duck dish and there is a general lack of power.
Adrian Atkinson
Some classy
Pinot characters on the nose. Quite light and a bit stalky. The
aftertaste has some chalky tannins. It has these lifted Pinot
characters and a stalky structure, but on the palate, it’s a touch
hollow and simple. It’s what I call an up and down bright fun
Pinot.
