MAX ALLEN’S KEYNOTE SPEECH

"I have just read Max Allen’s Key Note address to the Competition's Banquet called "The Royal Road to Terroir". I am very impressed and excited by its contents.

"It is a beautifully crafted speech but ultimately it is so satisfying to see that some enlightened wine makers are following a different wisdom (albeit, not conventionally scientific) and achieving such satisfying results. They are getting out of the limitations of the "known" box and braving the walls of conventions, exposing themselves to ridicule (until the results prove them right) for the greater good. I loved the metaphor about falling in love too, something anyone with a heart can resonate with. And also because these weird practices are probably better at promoting such feelings than the spraying of noxious chemicals on the earth. Max's speech is more than a key note address, it is potentially an earth moving declaration with infinite potential. The thought of wine makers burying cow horns full of beautiful cow dung and looking at the sky gives me a shiver of pleasure that the thought of tanks full of herbicides could never do." I want to congratulate you on your wonderful web site. It is very informative and enjoyable, a winning combo. Monique. (Click here to read Max Allen's speech. Ed.)
