THE ENTRIES CAP - 2,000 ENTRIES MAXIMUM

If you plan to enter wines into the 2009 Competition, best move soon.

WITH ABOUT TWO MONTHS TO GO TO JUDGING, the Entry Cap is 75% full. Seems certain entries will close early again this year.

Enter here. (Entry fees received after the cut off will of course be either not processed or refunded in full.)

WHY THE ENTRY CAP?
Judging with appropriate food requires a great deal of concentration.
Effectively, each Award winner is assessed four or five times. Because the Judges do not “conference” – judges are on their own and their independent, tape recorded comments are published and widely accessed via the Competition’s website – hence, before they dictate, judges think very deeply about what they are about to say. Many of the Judges are self employed and they give up a minimum of a full week – more like two weeks when you add in travelling time - out of a fifty two week year, to judge with us. It would be unreasonable to ask them to offer more than that. That’s one reason why we must place a cap on the number of entries.

Secondly, judging with food requires special facilities which the local Sports Centre or Agricultural Society Hall cannot offer. Physical considerations and logistics are another reason why we must place a cap on total entries.

In the end, the Entry Cap is about creating an environment in which each of these highly qualified, in demand, international Wine Judges can offer our entrants peak performance.
