Meiburg MW (Hong
from Sonoma County, California, now long time resident of Hong Kong, Debra
Meiburg has travelled extensively, visiting key wine regions in North America,
Europe, and in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Chile. She has been a
cellar-hand in New York State, worked harvest in Chile, pruned vines in
Bordeaux. Debra has also judged extensively, in wine shows on four continents.
holds the prestigious Master of Wine title, one of only three Asian residents to
formal US qualifications as a wine educator and wine judge. Before moving with
her husband to Hong Kong, Debra was Wine Professor, School of Hospitality,
Rochester Institute of Technology, New York. These days, she is a high profile
wine media writer and presents group and private wine education seminars
throughout Asia. Her students include Asian cabinet ministers and other key
political and business figures.
She is a
contributing editor to the Asian Tatler Magazine which is published in major
Asian cities. In 2007, through her popular weekly wine column in the South China
Morning Post, she was voted one of the two "Most Influential Wine Journalists in
Hong Kong" in an independent survey of 500 members of the wine
