Judges' Comments

Kym Milne
Very ripe blackberry fruit and classy, cedary oak aromas. Liquorice, rich ripe fruit, some gamey complexity with big round ripe tannins to finish

Stuart Halliday
Lovely earthy, leather, spiced plum and black berry fruit. Lovely uplifted nose. Firm tannins, sweet oak, quite well balanced in the mouth

Oliver Masters
Medium dark red, good dark complex and fruit notes on nose, dark chocolate and warm fruit on palate with one fresh tannins giving life still. Very good match with sirloin

Natasha Hughes
Lots of mint, dark fruit and vanilla oak. Dark, dense and chewy. Rather traditional, but appealing nonetheless. A bit too much sweet oak on the finish.

Corey Ryan
Crimson in colour, brooding black-licorice, coffee bean and char aromas. The palate is rich and concentrated, fleshy and well structured. A wine with good acid structure and palate length. The sirloin steak is a perfect match for this wine lifts the ripe fruits and licorice coffee bean flavours in the wine.

Matthew Deller
Dark. Superior example of traditional south Australian Shiraz with dark and dried fruits, meaty development, liquorice and mocha oak. Lavishly structured, with fruit and alcohol sweetness, fresh acidity and strong, rich tannins. Good length, oak and alcohol warmth on finish. Food gives the wine focus and adds to the complexity.
