Judges' Comments

Warren Gibson
Lifted, fragrant cassis nose. Very edgy Cabernet note. Beautifully pure and lifted. Delicious pure Cabernet which worked beautifully with the beef cheek

Meg Brodtmann
Classic Cabernet sauvignon aromas of the herb garden, green peas and blackcurrant leaf. Very elegant on the nose and palate with jubey blackcurrant, dried herbs, dark chocolate and a hint of menthol. Lovely wine with grainy, fine tannins. The mintiness of the wine matches well with the beef cheek.

Dr Ken Dobler
Intense deep dark red colour. The nose is complex with blackcurrant, cedar and tobacco leaf aromas. Excellent primary fruit drive on the palate which is complex and long. Wonderful balance to the tannins make this an outstanding food wine.

Brent Marris
Ripe slightly stalky green notes on the nose following through to the palate. Good ripe berry fruit with hints of dried herbs coming through. Lovely richness and structure come right through the palate to the finish. Beautiful sweet berry fruit and texture are the hallmarks of this wine. A great food and wine pairing. The beef cheeks make the wine more youthful and nicely alive

Ying Tan
Deep dense red. Typically capsicum, blackcurrant, pencil shavings cabernet sauvignon nose. Full, dry, tannic, spicy, cedary, pencil shavings minty blackcurrant, moderate weight. Dry tannic, slightly hot dark berries, mint and pencil shavings finish. Long. Beef Cheek very much left intact the cab sauv character but seems to point up dryness.

Sue Bastian
Dark ruby red. Blackcurrant jam, spice, and leafy herbs. Lovely sweet fruits, liquorice and black olive. Great suedey tannin. Lovely sustained length of fruit and nutty oak. Great flavour and weight pairing.
