Judges' Comments

Warren Gibson
Fresh and attractive. Pure. Spicy. Plenty of acidity in a medium body frame. Firm acidity pushes through with the dish

Meg Brodtmann
Cooked plum, jammy mulberry and porty aromas. Soft acid with fine tannins support the jammy plum fruit. There is a hint of licorice and some sweet spice. The wine is slightly porty and hot on the finish. The oak seems more evident with the beef cheek but a lovely match with the wine appearing less hot.

Dr Ken Dobler
Deep brick red hues. Intense mocca and stewed plum aromas on the nose with some complex spicy notes. Mouth filling with lovely spiced plum notes and exceptional length of flavour.

Brent Marris
Big rich ripe round fruit. Lovely toasty oak. Hints of liquorice and jammy notes on the palate. Ripe fruit tannins. Soft ripe tannins. A good match with the beef cheeks as the wine rounds out beautifully.

Ying Tan
Deep red. Crushed red berries, lightly spicy nose. Full, dry, lightly tannic, spicy crushed red fruit. Good concentration. Dry, ripe finish. Long.

Sue Bastian
Deep ruby red with slight brown tints. Intense blackberry, with some spearmint hints. Coffee chocolate oak on the palate reasonably balanced and good length. The oak and flavours of the wine blend very nicely with the sweet sauce, sweet potato and meat.
