Judges' Comments

Warren Gibson
Fruity nose. Very pure. Peppercorn nose. One-dimensional but fresh and vibrant. Slightly angular tannins. Similar with the dish. Savoury tannins are in balance

Meg Brodtmann
Beautifully appealing nose of mulberry jam, fresh licorice, redcurrant and some spicy clove. Redcurrant jelly, stewed mulberry and a hint of mint on the palate. Firm but fine tannins. A pretty smart wine. Well paired with the steak but no improvement.

Dr Ken Dobler
Deep crimson with purple hues. Plum jam and spicy aromas on the nose. Jam and stewed fruit flavours with some complex exotic spice notes which give interest to the palate.

Brent Marris
Big rich ripe berry fruit on the nose. Elegant fruit palate. Integrated oak with firm fruit tannins to finish. A good match as the tannins less obvious and the fruit is nicely balanced.

Ying Tan
Deep dark red. Slightly jammy confected redberries, strawberries. Med-full, dry, soft, bright red fruit, moderately tannic, slightly spicy redberries on palate. Fairly straightforward, quite well balanced. Long. Sirloin initially dries out the wine, then brings out the fruit.

Sue Bastian
Deep purple. Intense plum jam slight buttery toast notes. Highly perfumed and gorgeous blue flowers on the palate. Great length with balanced sandy tannin. Sweet fruits of wine ok with sweet meat notes.
