Judges' Comments

Warren Gibson
Simple, quite fruity nose. Spicy and attractive enough. A lean and dry palate. Lacks some generosity and finishes bitter.

Meg Brodtmann
Meaty, olive tapenade, with a hint of rosemary. Surprisingly sweet fruited on the palate with plum and sour cherry. Some rosemary herb. Huge tannins but sufficient fruit and concentration to support them. The wine appears less fruity with the steak.

Dr Ken Dobler
Brilliant purple crimson colour. Very seductive nose with red plum, white pepper and exotic spice. Beautiful mouth feel with ripe spicy fruits which go on and on and a lovely freshness of flavour. The tannins are there to balance but not overly assertive.

Brent Marris
Primary berry fruit notes on the nose following through to the palate. Fresh flavours with great fruit depth. Integrated oak with hints of chocolate notes on the finish. Well matched with the steak dish as the fruit sweetness is highlighted.

Ying Tan
Deep dense dark red. Spicy dark black berries on nose. Some black pepper. Full, dry, lightly tannic, finely grained, toasty oaky, black pepper black berries, dried flowers, good mid-palate persistence and balance. Perhaps a touch confected. Sirloin has a relatively neutral impact but does point up fruit.

Sue Bastian
Opaque magenta. Intense, menthol, plum and spice. Tobacco and plum on the palate. With sweet vanilla fruit finish.
