Judges' Comments

Warren Gibson
Quite a closed nose. Fresh red fruits in the background. Opened up with air. Nice balance. Sweet fruit dominates the dish. A quiet but solid wine. Lots of potential

Meg Brodtmann
Very herbal and savoury with brambly fruit and some peppermint. Woody herbs and tobacco on the palate with some firm, chewy tannins. The wine is softer with the steak but appears to have less fruit.

Dr Ken Dobler
Dark brick red colour. Very vinous nose with aromas of black olive, desiccated grape and an attractive spicy dimension. Palate shows some delicious black fruit notes with a long savoury finish. Food accentuates the bright primary fruit notes on the palate.

Brent Marris
Ripe stew plum nose. Slight sweet porty notes with hints of leaf and dried herbs on mid palate. Finishes very tannic. A better match with the steak dish as the wines fruity ness comes through and the tannins are toned down. More in balance.

Ying Tan
Deep dark red. Slightly oily, floral, dried roses nose. Med-bodied, dry, floral, red berries, firm light tannins, quite fresh. Dry slightly creamy fresh red berries finish. Long. Sirloin points up sweetness of fruit.

Sue Bastian
Mid-deep ruby with slight brown tints. Dried flowers and herbs, dusty oak, hints of prune. Medium bodied, blue flowers, dark cherry, softer, sandy tannin. Medium length. Wine slightly dominate with sweet fruits.
