Judges' Comments

Warren Gibson
Ripe Cabernet nose with beautiful blackcurrant fruit. Intense and pure. Excellent varietal fruit and balance. Well made. Savoury tannins. Beautifully lifted with the sirloin. A cracker match!

Meg Brodtmann
Cassis, mint and fresh parsley on the nose. The palate is fine and elegant with cassis, violets, graphite and fresh basil. The tannins are just a bit too extracted for the fruit. The wine appears more drying with the steak.

Dr Ken Dobler
Dark brick red with crimson edge. Intense black fruit aromas on the nose as well as hints of leaf and cedar. Good fruit drive on the plate which is long and complex and has a very fine finish. That finesse proves an excellent match with food.

Brent Marris
Ripe round berry fruit notes on the nose, following through to the palate. Hints of sweet oak, mint and ripe tannins come through on the finish. Steak dish works well with this wine as tannins are more toned down and the fruit is lifted.

Ying Tan
Deep dark red. Crushed dark berries, quite oily floral note with pencil shavings blackcurrant on the nose. Med-full, dry, tannic (ripe, juicy) persistent blackcurrant cedar, pencil shavings, elegantly structured, balanced. Concentrated, spicy finish. Long. Sirloin points up sweetness, complexity and texture.

Sue Bastian
Deep ruby slightly hazy. Pretty, blackcurrant, florals and spice with dusty oak. All this follows on the palate with great length. Yummy match and cabernet.
