Judges' Comments

Warren Gibson
Slightly closed nose. Some herbal tea notes. Lacks some volume and richness. Finishes short. A moderate match with the dish

Meg Brodtmann
A more earthy aroma profile with meat, baked earth, charcuterie and some black olives. The palate is slightly more herbal than earthy but a very interesting wine. Very drinkable with the steak. Well paired.

Dr Ken Dobler
Deep brick red with a crimson edge. Attractive perfumed talc and blueberry aromas on the nose. Spicy flavours add complexity to those fruit notes making this a good pair with food.

Brent Marris
A rich ripe berry fruit nose and palate. Dark chocolate and black pepper notes with hints of savoury and spice coming through. Slightly earthy integrated oak to finish. Well matched with the steak as the wine takes on more of the lovely earthy characters.

Ying Tan
Deep dark red. Spicy, black pepper, black berries nose. Med-full, dry, black pepper, slightly tarry, floral, dried roses and blackberries on persistent elegantly balanced mid-palate with finely grained tannins. Dry fine long finish, tailing slightly creamy. Sirloin maintains the balance and fruit concentration, lightly softening the tannins.

Sue Bastian
Deep purple. Bright and fresh nose with plum and vanilla. Intense sweet berry fruit, supple tannin, reasonable length. Sweet fruits are a nice compliment to this dish.
