Judges' Comments

Kym Milne
Complex, savoury aromas, lifted stalky florals. Complex flavours of fruit, spice, mushroom but finishes with quite hard, astringent and dry tannin. Touch bitter. Looked better with the food tannins less pronounced and worked well.

Stuart Halliday
A big extracted pinot, chewy tannins, fruit and oak not particularly well integrated. Needs time

Dark red, dark meaty spice and red currents on nose, medium bodied with good complexity and refreshing spicy fruit tannin, paired well with duck

Natasha Hughes
Smoky, gamey aromas, silky texture. Savoury wine with dense red fruit on mid palate. Grippy tannins.

Corey Ryan
Browning hues, complex soy and savoury aromas, underpinned by compost and wild-forest characters, a touch grubby - reductive. A tightly structured robust wine, with a strong acid line well structured. Will mature well. The aromatic complexity of the wine comes out with the duck and beetroot risotto focused acidity gives the overall palate length.

Matthew Deller
Medium/dark appearance. Medicinal, herbal, stewed red fruit, potpourri, dried herbs. Sweet fruit on approach, with moderate acidity, but dried out and tannic. Medium length. Food makes this Pinot more interesting in its green, wild herb flavours and edgy, sappy tannins.
