Judges' Comments

Warren Gibson
Lighter colour, spicy with feeling of some whole bunch fermentation. Surprising eight for the colour of this wine. Rich and concentrated. Firm tannins show through with the dis but good synergy.

Meg Brodtmann
A mix of meaty, barbeque aromas with hints of rose and violet. Warm alcohol is supported by juicy, jubey red fruit with vanilla and charry oak acting in support. A big wine which needs food. Much better with food. Still a big, dry red-ish style of wine but lovely with the duck and risotto.

Dr Ken Dobler
Light brick red colour. Attractive cherry and sappy aromas on the nose. Palate shows a lot of attractive cherry, berry flavours complexed with some sappy, vegetal notes and a generosity of flavour that goes on and on.

Brent Marris
Ripe sweet berry fruit on the nose following through to the palate. A hint of smoky oak and earthiness evident on the palate matched with a lovely ripe finish of ripe wild berries. Lovely integrated flavours come through when trying this wine with the duck. Sweetness of berries and acid tannin balance.

Ying Tan
Light ruby. Fresh floral red fruit nose. Light, dry med-high acid simple red sweet red berry fruit. Dry, lean finish. Duck Risotto brings out sweetness of fruit.

Sue Bastian
Mid cherry red. Medium intensity, cherry liqueur, nutty and vanilla nougat. Lovely silky tannin marries well with rich red fruits and nuts in the mouth. A nicely focused palate with good balance of acid, tannin and flavour. Mid length and complexity.
