Judges' Comments
Tony Allen
Quite serious
and less commercial than some Shiraz Viognier blends. Very
attractive, spicy and peppery fruit. A very good food wine.
Warren Gibson
Slightly meaty,
spicy nose with florals. A bit dull, non expressive and lacking some
grace. Firmish tannins overlying sweet fruit. This wine works quite
well with the meat dish. The firm tannins continue through the palate
and help with the persistence and balance.
Andrew Wigan
Medium deep red
with dark, spicy fruit and a nice touch of oak. Firm and quite
robust.
Debra Meiburg
A hint of
pepper, blackberry and boysenberry fruit. Fine, textured. Balanced
and structure. Good length. It accentuates the meat without stealing
the thunder.
Kym Milne
Vibrant, peppery
Shiraz aromas. Bright fruit. Young. Needs some time. Looks a little
raw on its own but much better with the food. It appeared silkier
with very good length. Better wine with the food than on its own.
Adrian Atkinson
Some spice and
pepper coming through from the Shiraz and Viognier but the palate is
dry and dilute. Pretty simple. The simplicity of the wine comes
through with the food. It needs something like a tomato based pasta
sauce dish to really mop up that simplicity.
